"Straits Chinese (Cecil Street)" first opened in 1953 as Singapore’s pioneering Peranakan restaurant, and has been operating in the CBD since 2011. The interior is adorned with Chinese ornaments and wooden furnishings, creating a serene atmosphere. The versatile menu features dishes crafted with locally sourced ingredients, plenty of spices and herbs, and prepared using traditional Chinese cooking methods. Signature highlights include the rich, nutty ayam buah keluak (chicken stewed with keluak nuts) and the tangy, spicy ikan assam nanas pedas (pineapple-infused fish).
